What actually happens in a first session at Quiet Rain Meadow

Anyone thinking about a first visit to Quiet Rain Meadow is probably not quite sure what to expect. Bodywork means different things in different places, and the word 'wellness' has been stretched to cover so many things that it has almost stopped meaning anything. This is a plain account of what a first session here actually looks like.
Arriving and the first conversation
The practice is at 4-17-10 Higashimachi in Yonago, and we send the exact entrance by email once an appointment is confirmed. We meet you at the door, and the first thing that happens is a short conversation, usually ten to fifteen minutes, about what brought you in and what you are hoping for.
This conversation is not a formal intake process. It is more like the beginning of figuring out together what the session should do. We ask a few questions and listen carefully to the answers. We are interested in what has not been working for you: how tired you feel, how you have been sleeping, how daily life has been going. None of this is a medical assessment.
The session itself
Most first sessions are 60 or 90 minutes of bodywork, though the extended 120-minute session is also available for people who want more time. The table is warmed before you arrive. You will be asked to remove shoes and outer layers; loose clothing is fine for the rest.
We work slowly. The approach is pressure-based, using sustained holds and gradual release rather than percussion or speed. We pay attention to how you respond and adjust accordingly; tell us at any moment if the pressure is too much. There is no fixed sequence. The session follows the person, not a protocol.
After the session
At the end of the session there is a short period of rest before you get up. This is not optional; it is part of the session. Getting up too quickly after bodywork is not very pleasant.
We will say a few words about what we noticed and, if it seems useful, what a follow-up session might focus on. We do not push for a second booking. If you want to come back, you will know.
The questions people usually ask before a first session are answered on the FAQ page. If you have a question that is not there, the contact form is the right place to ask it.
A note from Quiet Rain Meadow: this article is about how we run our sessions, not medical advice. If something about your health worries you, please see a doctor before you book.
